These aren’t just novelty accommodations; inside the curved wood walls, guests will find 300 square feet of space featuring a king-size bed, kitchenette, and a well-appointed bathroom. Seven of the barrels also include private outdoor hot tubs for ultimate relaxation.

Tony and his wife Christina, experienced in creating unique accommodations (they previously built geodesic domes south of Nashville), wanted to elevate the visitor experience in Bourbon Country.

The barrel idea was born, and after prototyping to ensure weatherproofing and comfortable dimensions, it quickly took off.

The popularity of Bourbon Barrel Retreats has led to plans for an onsite restaurant and whiskey tasting room, slated to open in Summer 2025. This will allow guests to enjoy special pours, including a custom bourbon release, without ever leaving the property. Communal fire pits provide a gathering place for guests to share their bourbon finds and opinions.

With its central location near 20 distilleries, including Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, and Woodford Reserve, Bourbon Barrel Retreats offers a free concierge service. This service curates personalized itineraries that can include distillery tours, tastings, meals, and even visits to Kentucky’s famous thoroughbred farms, saving guests valuable travel time.
