St. Louis, MO, February 5, 2026 – As communities in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi reel from a severe ice storm, a familiar name has stepped in, but not with its usual product.
Anheuser-Busch (a leading American manufacturer and the nation’s top brewer) has delivered over 100,000 cans of emergency drinking water to residents and first responders, answering direct calls for help from the American Red Cross and a local fire department.
It’s a stark reminder that in times of crisis, even the biggest brewers can pivot to life’s most basic necessity.
This substantial aid, sourced from Anheuser-Busch’s brewery in Cartersville, Georgia, highlights a lesser-known facet of the company’s operations. This facility, along with its Fort Collins, Colorado brewery, periodically pauses beer production specifically to can emergency drinking water.
It’s a pragmatic approach to corporate social responsibility that has been active for decades. “The American Red Cross is deeply grateful to Anheuser-Busch and its wholesaler partners for their generous donation,” stated Lauren Ulrich, Executive Director of Operations Management and Logistics for the American Red Cross, underscoring the critical nature of such partnerships.
The impact has been immediate and widespread.
More than 25,000 cans were rushed to Oxford, Mississippi, at the request of the local fire department.
Another 25,000+ cans reached an American Red Cross site in Monroe, Louisiana, and a staggering 50,000+ cans were delivered to Nashville, Tennessee. These numbers represent clean, safe hydration for thousands facing power outages and compromised infrastructure.
While a cynical eye might view such efforts as purely strategic public relations, the consistent, long-term commitment tells a different story. Since initiating its emergency drinking water program in 1988, Anheuser-Busch and its vast network of wholesaler partners have donated over 100 million cans of water to communities and volunteer fire departments.
That’s a massive, sustained effort, quietly unfolding alongside their core business of brewing iconic brands like Michelob ULTRA and Budweiser.

This kind of rapid, large-scale corporate response during natural disasters begs a pertinent question: how much does private industry fill gaps left by strained public resources, and what does that mean for community resilience? Regardless of the underlying motivations, the fact remains that when ice storms cripple communities, a seemingly unlikely hero in the form of a major brewer is there, delivering a fundamental need.
In moments of vulnerability, clear, safe drinking water is paramount.
Anheuser-Busch’s swift action in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi serves as a tangible demonstration of corporate purpose, showcasing that some businesses are indeed committed to “create a future with more cheers” – even if those cheers initially come from a can of water.
